There are times that I only remember my bills like three days after it’s due and then I open the app in panic but see that it has been paid by Eyowo.
The ‘I Am Better with Money’ series tells the money stories of real Nigerians and how they manage their money better with Eyowo.
In this episode, we spoke to a tech bro who schedules his bill payments on Eyowo to avoid embarrassing situations.
Okay, my name is Toyin Olasehinde. I am a Product Manager. I am also building a couple of startups as well, Treford and WoodCore App. Typically, I’m not a big spender but I’m not stingy as well. At my start ups, I’m always pushed to the money side because they know I can hold anybody’s neck.
I’m also big on people, and on testing ideas. I’m a huge soccer fan as well.
I remember my dad used to say don’t be a spendthrift, try to be frugal with your money. I’m not the type of person to make crazy and stupid money decisions. Of course at some point, we’d have that moment when we’re like we regret spending on something but there aren’t a lot of moments like that for me because I’m particular about how to manage my finances.
And Eyowo has even helped me more. The best part of how Eyowo has helped me is by helping automate certain parts of my finance.
There are certain bills I typically pay every month. So what I do is, I set up a recurring expense And I forget about it. I don’t even think about it.
There are times that I only remember my bills like three days after it’s due and then I open the app in panic but see that it has been paid by Eyowo. There’s relief knowing that someone has your back and that the specific services you need for that period is covered already and there are no delays in any kind of payment.
It has also helped me manage some of my operational expenses; I have two accounts on Eyowo and I divide my money between the two accounts for specific things so this helps me separate my money.
That should be when the app was launched.
I think there are a couple of words I would like to associate the brand with or my experience on the app with and they are; Simple , Efficient, Great customer experience.
That’s not far fetched, it’s the recurring expense feature . I think another feature that I like is the tracker.
There was a time when someone reached out to me that I had not paid a bill and I was like no, I did. So I generated a receipt of the past two payments and sent it to them and they confirmed. It then occurred to me that there’s a recurring feature I could set up so I don’t have to worry about missing a deadline.
So I set it up and forgot about it. Scheduling my bill payments prevents me from any embarrassing situation.
Do you know that it is very hard to point out what my financial weakness is. If I want something, I kind of already have a plan for it. Except it is a craving and it is only food, sorry good food.
Omo, I don’t have a favourite food o. I eat anything so far it’s not rubbish.
I remember a time in school when one of my roommates cooked this orange rice. I was like what is this? I’ll rather go to bed hungry.
Nah, I’ll pass.
I will tell you for free, I have used quite a number of FinTech apps in Nigeria today and I will beat my chest that Eyowo is the best because one, they are quite reliable and two, support is really good.
You can dispute a transaction immediately. If you think there are any issues with the transaction, reach out to customer support and it should be sorted out.
That’s how solid it is. Eyowo X was well thought out.
Thank you for having me.
